Feeling Overwhelmed

Classes have only just begun, and already the assignments are piling up.

One professor in particular behaves as though we are all taking his class and only his class. Four reading assignments and a short paper are due for his Wednesday class. And you'd think that if you are teaching how to be a good teacher that you would be a good teacher yourself. Not so! He drones on and on, with no apparent direction or point. So far, he hasn't exhibited a single thing I'd want to see myself doing in front of a classroom.

I am not a night person at all, so it's hard to get much reading done by the time I get home form work and take care of the animals and dinner. I'm lucky if I'm managing an hour before I start nodding off.

Work is picking up too, so I haven't even been taking anything that resembles a lunch break in which I might read.

And then there's the dying hot water heater and leaking dehumidifier, which are obviously contributing to my increased stress level.

So I can't promise regular posting, unless I am procrastinating (like now) or I suddenly learn better time management skills. Ha!

Why is it getting busy at work already? I thought that came later.

Well, for one thing we just (as in over the weekend) switched to Active Directory and Outlook from Novell and Groupwise, so that added some "extra" work. Plus, we're getting ready for the temps, so even though they don't start for another month and a half we have to get the job posted and the training materials set.

The regular stuff is still sloooooow.

Hope you find a balance. Mr. LS is taking a class this semester and much prefers getting up early to do some of his work.

How long will your degree take? A M.ED I assume?

It's a MS actually. The program is 18 months typically, but I don't know that I'll be able to do it that quickly if I'm working too.

Sympathies on the water heater. When we bit the bullet last week it was a showering epiphany all around. But ours wasn't an Urgent Situation, which meant we had time to call for bids, think about it, run numbers, etc.....

House maintainance can kick your butt, can't it? Sorry you've got it piling on you.

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I hope you "find" time to get it all done and still relax. Which grades would you like to teach?

Thanks for the sympathy, y'all.

I'm aiming to get certified in Bio teaching 7-12. I don't have a preference yet for middle vs high school. That will come, I'm sure...

"Welcome to the real world." AK!

I don't remember hearing about the dehumidifier, what's wrong with that?

Yes, I do hope you find some balance!

What world do you think I've been living in?!

The dehu was leaking and then it wasn't draining, but it seems to be working at the moment. I check it at least once a day.
