Fair Food is the Best

The return of the state fair heralds the official end to summer. I have always been a dedicated fair-goer. Yesterday I made my first visit, and I will go again next weekend. It did not turn out to be ideal fair weather. The temperatures were in the high 80s, although they felt well above 90. It was humid and sunny (as my shoulders can attest to). My energy and interest waned quickly. If I can't be bothered to eat fair food, we know there's a problem. I only hope the weather is more suitable next weekend because I still need to consume vast quantities of Bad Things.

I did manage to check out some cows, chickens, bunnies, sheep, goats, pigs, and llamas. I saw the butter sculpture and the beginnings of the sand sculpture. I fought the crowds in the raptor tent so I could make eyes at the barn owls (so cute are they). I bought some handmade soap in the agriculture building. It's vegetarian (no beef tallow) and fragrance free. If I like it I may buy more next weekend so I have some on hand.

In the 4H building I came across an Omlet and instantly took a liking to it. I have been wanting chickens in my backyard for years. Not that I'm going to actually do it (as the neighbors sigh in relief), but I can daydream can't I?

It took me hours and lots of water to recover last night, but I'm already looking forward to the next visit. Fried dough! Curly fries! With vinegar!

OMG I LOOOOOVE curly fries with vinegar!!! And fried dough. *sigh* if there's one thing I miss about that area, it's going to the Fair every summer. Did you run into anyone you/we know? Did you take pictures of the yarn for me? ;)

I LOVE THE STATE FAIR and the state fair food--mmmmm, my favorites are smoothies, sausage onion and pepper sandwiches, fried bread, fried fish, fresh squeezed lemonade--so sad that I am not there. AK!

Hey, I just checked out the omlet--how cute. I love chickens! BUT if you suddenly decide you DO want them, check the Zoning laws first! And get them in the EARLY spring. (Or late winter.)

4 chickens will lay 4 eggs a day once they start laying, until they get old, so it may be more eggs than you want. Of course, you weren't serious anyway. I love the idea though.

I do love seeing the animals at the fair, especially the goats. And the food from the African village is pretty good, but I still can't handle the fair every year. The throngs are just a bit excessive for me. Last time we went there were over a million people and I felt a bit squeamy.

God yes!
I love elephant ears, fries, corn dogs, lemon shake-ups, . . . . . must stop typing all these deliciously fatty and fabulous things, I am salivating all over my desk. Oooh, just remembered having a barbecued turkey leg that was to die for and fresh grilled corn on the cob dripping with melted butter.

I haven't eaten anything all day because I got started on some projects (a couple of them)and kept thinking I was nearly done.

The thought of fair food could drive me INSANE!!!

And no I am not trying to not eat. I was just BUSY! AK!
