Another Day in Paradise

Yesterday my host teacher was grabbed hard on the arm and then shoved into a door frame by a student in my class. I had to fill out an incident report as a witness.

Today I learned that one of the students from the school stabbed someone on the bus (they ride public buses to and from school).

Currently I have three students suspended from one class.

I also had only three students pass the test I gave yesterday.

Two more weeks to go!

Wow! Maybe I'll rethink taking the few classes I need left for my teaching certificate when LB goes to school. Nice thought but I don't think I have it in me to deal with that unless they are my own kids. Hang in there, you are almost done!

This is just so depressing. In two weeks you'll be done (whew!) but those poor kids. What chance do they have? Sigh. I bet your not overwhelmed with sympathy for them right now though -- that might take a little distance.

Oh joy, sounds delightful! Hope everything goes OK and you pass and get a reasonable review/report.

That is so sad. I hear comments like this a lot from other friends training to be teachers and it worries and saddens me.

In the moment, when the physical altercation was occurring, I was more afraid than sympathetic. I do, however, wish for better things for all of the kids in my class.

Oh. Muh. Guh. My jaw is on the floor. I'm so glad you weren't hurt yourself! And I'm glad it's almost over for you... but those poor kids. What then, for them? :(
