Hooked

I am now officially hooked on mushroom hunting. I've collected two varieties in the past, but I'd never gone after the morel before today. We didn't find tons, but it was quite addicting. And delicious!

I love the progression of photos here. The frying pan photo looks especially yummy with all that nice butter.

Very nice black morels! Did you just use butter to fry them up? I still need to cook mine all up - only have made two small batches so far! :) Happy hunting!! Now you are going to see them in your sleep! :)

We use to go collecting Morels with my Mom when we were young. She would make a wonderful Antipasto with them. It brings me back!

Stacy, I just used regular (salted) butter. Probably a little bit too much, but they were still quite tasty. :-)

Wow, I have never had a morel. It all sounds so fun and tasty both the hunt and the eats. Enjoy!

Oh, how fun! I've read about morel hunting but never done it before. Would you worried about eating a poisonous one accidently?

I have those same plates. Nova Brown, right?

Morels are wonderful!

And they are very safe, as false morels look quite different.

Too many, especially with alcohol, can make you a little queasy though, or some people--not me, but I know someone who got a little sick (not seriously!!!)

DO BE CAREFUL collecting mushrooms!

Nice series of photos!! I agree.

I used to collect morels a lot--and have pix and poems about it.

I haven't seen any around here.

Albatross, I only have two of the plates so I'm not sure what they are, but I like them a lot.

EG, I wasn't at all worried. I would only consider collecting mushrooms that I was 100% confident of knowing, like shaggy manes, puffballs, and morels. Any others, I would require an expert to be with me. :-)

I like the series of photos! I've wondered what morels look like -- since I've heard people talk about gathering them and eating them.
