Solar Power

It's in the teens outside with an arctic blast of wind. The tree branches are waving and the house is rattling, but it's nice and toasty inside. The sun has been shining all day, which means the solar panels have been cranking. They'll be shutting off momentarily, but for now I'm enjoying the 70 degrees they've blessed me with. My solar panels have the power to improve any winter day just by turning on the heat.

YAY! YAY Solar panels! WAHOO!

YAY warmth!

(I'm FREEZING--chilled from a cold walk with insufficient clothing for the chill. Snowing here.)

(It was sunny off and on most of today and yesterday, but snowing now)

You have solar panels? That is so cool, er I mean hot? Does the power that they generate ever go "back into the grid?" We have polish solar power. We open the blinds in our (south facing) kitchen on a sunny day. Warms up the ceramic tiles and the dogs bed by the back door.

The solar panels are almost 30 years old. They only produce hot air which is blown with one fan into my living room. I live in an area not known for sunny days, so hearing the sound of the solar running has become one of my sources of pure pleasure. Since I have electric heat, I certainly hope the solar panels are helping with energy consumption.

My dog follows the sun through the room, soaking up every second of the extra warmth.
