The Princess Pup

I know some of you may be wondering why I haven't been reading at home or taking the bus like I had plan. This is why:

I picked her up a little over a week ago. She weighed 2 lbs 7 oz and was 8 weeks old. She is a black & tan short-haired chihuahua. She did not come with papers and will most likely be in the 10-12 lb range as an adult (that is only a guess on my part; I can't wait to see how wrong I am!). She is playful and cuddly and quite a handful. It's all eyes on deck at all times to prevent irreparable damage to my coffee table, carpet, and anything else she takes a fancy to. The floor is strewn with chew toys, but they are much less interesting than books, papers, and furniture. Don't worry, I've done this before. I raised Mr. Dog since he was her age and he turned out fine. I can only hope she takes to training as well as he did.

So for those of you counting, I now own two dogs and a cat. I also provide shelter to a second cat, and it will be a happy day when he takes his leave. Since I have no spouse or children, I might as well have a lot of pets, right?

Pets are great company. They love unconditionally and give so much comfort. Cats, not so much; dogs, definitely. Chihuahuas are one of the most loyal breeds, too. If you don’t socialize her as often as you can, she could end up being a ‘one person dog.’ She is a cutie though. Is her name Princess?

Awwww! What a cutie. I have two dogs and a cat, too, but I didn't get to raise them from such a young age. What a handful -- and what fun!

Aw, she's a cutie! I have a long-haired chihuahua - she is such a cuddle-bug!

I agree with coffeypot about the socialization. My husband and I took our little Lola to as many get-togethers and family gatherings, etc to get her used to other people - and it worked! She gets so excited when we have guests - she wants to sit on their lap - definitely not a one person dog! :)

Oh yes, and I have two dogs and two cats AND husband - but no kids. LOL. I wouldn't have it any other way!

Her name is Esmerelda. It was what the breeders named her, and it seemed fitting. I mostly call her Esme. Mr. Dog is also a chihuahua and although I am definitely his 'one person,' he loves my parents and sister too. I'm trying to let lots of people pet Esme, but I may need to take her more places (I don't get out much).

Awwwwwwwwwww :melt:

I have wanted a chihuahua since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. I swear that's going to be our "next" pet over and over, but we keep getting something else.

I have a husband AND lots of kids AND lots of pets, so what does that make me? Ding ding ding, if you guessed 'crazy,' you win! ;)

Esmeralda is a pretty name. But a big name for such a little critter. If you get one of those name tags for her neck it will be like putting an anvil on her. She won't be able to move, her head will be stuck to the floor. Esme is better!

Awwwww . . . HOW CUTE, how adorable, wish I could give her a little squeeze! SWEET!

She needs lots of hugs and kisses, I wish I could help social her, LOL!! And hugs for Mr. Dog too.

If you'd like lots of pets, I have a bird you might like? LOL!

Though I am not sure how safe a bird would be with two cats and two dogs. This one talks!
