Conundrum

One of the many problems with cubes is the complete lack of privacy. I share an office space with three other permanent staffers and one temporary worker, plus various passers by.

My doctor's office is only open 9-4, which means if I am going to speak to them about my sonogram results, I have to call during my work hours. This would be fine if I had an office with a door. As that is not the situation, I tried stepping out of our suite to phone the office. But you always have to leave a message for the nurse to call you back. And there's the problem, because I have no (and I mean zero) cell reception in my office, so it's not like I can take the call and dash to the lobby for privacy.

I am so not interested in sharing my girl-parts discussion with my officemates.

So more phone tag tomorrow, I'm sure.

Any other suggestions?

I just wrote up a whole big comment and Blogger chose to eat it, the dastardly creature.
I cannot solve your problem, but I sure can sympathize. I hate that bullshit phone tag crap. I did it all freaking day Monday trying to find someone to give me BC without an expensive office visit.

In theory I have a high regard for medical professionals. But in practice, much less so, because of exactly this sort of crummy behavior.

You could try asking if you could wait on hold for whomever was going to call you back. That was the only thing that stopped the ridiculous tag I was playing the other day.

Ai-yi-yi-

waiting on hold might help.

what a PAIN!

I made a post and blogger ate it too, and I did the next one via email so that I could resend it if it didn't take. It didn't. I resent it, it then took.

I swear I typed the word verification CORRECTLY twice and it didn't take it. umpjam third try

It has always bugged me that doctor offices -- especially in these HIPAA days -- have yet to figure out that most of us cannot talk freely at our desks. They should have someone available to answer a call, instead of our having to leave a message and wait for thier follow-up. I'm sorry you're having to go through this -- and that you can't have the privacy you deserve.
