Freezing Rain

When I took the dogs out this morning, I discovered several periwinkle blossoms near the mailbox. The cars and sidewalk were already covered with a slick sheet of ice. The flowers were a bright spot on a grey morning.

Back inside where it's dry and more or less warm, it's time for English Breakfast tea and blogs.

I think all that warm weather we've had fooled plants and animals -- what will happen now when winter actually comes?

Yes, the birch twigs here are coated with ice. My bird feeders all have little icicles. A good day for indoor pursuits.

Mother nature’s little quirks and surprises always seem to brighten the dreariest of days.

We have both periwinkles and ice here as well! Freezing rain. They should be OK, but I am not sure about all the other plants! (And the polar bears!)
