Happy Earth Day

I celebrated Earth Day by not mowing my lawn. OK, sure, there was an element of laziness involved, but more importantly, I didn't pointlessly use up limited resources while spewing exhaust into the air. It's a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but imagine the difference it would make if everyone mowed their lawns less often.

Someone at work hung a poster with a bunch of ideas for doing your part for the environment. One of the ideas was to say no to ATM receipts. Maybe I should've thought of this on my own, but sometimes I need a little push. It worries me just a little. What if I need a receipt to prove a transaction occurred. Granted, I've never had to resort to that in the past, but it seems risky. What do you all think? I rarely use the ATM, but every little bit helps, right?

I also went for a walk, although not in the woods as I would've liked to. But I didn't use any gasoline by walking in my own neighborhood.

Yeah Nadine! Happy Earth Day to you too. I think the receipt thing may work for those who are more organized. We stack all receipts on desk then do our budget. Know what I do though? When I go to the bank drive thru I retrieve my envelope at the end of the transaction, remove the contents, and put the envelope back in the tube. I am trying to get in the habit of using the reusable grocery bags. Problem is they seldom make their way back to the car, let alone into the store with us. . . . . . I try.

Oh, I have to think hard about that no ATM receipts thing. It does make good sense, but I worry that I would forget to enter the withdrawal in my ledger that way. Hmmm.

We hardly ever mow our lawn. I never thought about congratulating myself for being a good Earth citizen for that! LMAO! Way to go, us!

I never get the ATM receipt, though. I just write it in ahead of time, and then I wait for it to show up online on the bank site. Never had a problem.

See now, that's the thing. I take the receipt every time and then throw it in a big pile when I get home. I never look at it again or use it to balance my account. Nothing!

Happy belated Earth Day! YAY!

Every little bit helps.

I have NEVER needed an ATM receipt, but I admit not having them in case I do makes me nervous.

I don't do a lot of careful balancing or a lot of lawn mowing either, just enough to keep the lawn police at bay. I didn't even do that much until I got a ticket. 10 inches = ticket. but they push the ruler way down.

All the ATM information on the receipt will be on your banking statement, or retrievable through a phone call to the bank. And everyone stopped mowing their grass for earth day or less often, so they all do it at one time and really muck up the air. Get an electric mower – or a goat.

Also, if you have on-line banking, all the information will be there immediately or by the next day - to cover berrybird's concern. I check my balance every morning and every evening. I do keep a register, too, but it is a way to track my activity incase I loose a receipt, or a mugger takes it from me, or the dog eats it, or...

There are rechargeable mulching mowers as well. Saves time and the environment. The grass is feed with the mulched clipping (no bags required)and no cords to move around, just recharge and mow.
As for ATM receipts; I keep them for a month than recycle them.(Once I see them on our monthly on-line statement.)

I only get the ATM receipt if I deposit cash. If it's a check and they need proof, I figure they can talk to the people who issued the check, since they'd probably know who cashed it. If it's cash, though, it would just be my word against theirs.
