Boom!

My peonies opened yesterday. Gorgeous pale pink flowers that I never grow tired of seeing. I also have three shades of irises in full bloom.

In the wee hours of the morning I was rudely awakened by booming thunder, flashing lightening, and pounding rain. I thought for sure my peonies would be smashed to bits in the mud, but they were holding their own when I took the dogs out. Some of the irises didn't fare so well.

Nor did I, for that matter. The power went out, and I overslept by an hour. I skipped my morning tea and have had a throbbing, stabbing headache all day. No amount of drugs has helped, nor has the caffeine in the cola I had with lunch. The tea I had planned on consuming upon my arrival at work was nixed after I realized the funky smell in my office was coming from the moldy hot cocoa. The big sniff I took of the mug contents practically burned my nose hairs.

Esme will certainly not approve of my desire to lie on the couch with my eyes closed. I'm sure she'll be much more interested in chewing on my nose or chin. Why did I bother buying all those dog toys?

I have seen lots of gardens with peonies lately - I feel like I am missing out on some sort of club. LOL! Are they fairly easy to take of?

Surprisingly I haven't been woken up too much from the crazy storms lately. I do sleep with earplugs in - started the habit to catch some sleep eye when we had 3 cats in the house. We took in a male stray and it would pick on my female cats all night long - pulling their hair out and everything - he was even fixed! I ended up finding him a good home but I couldn't kick the earplug habit - I can hardly sleep without them now) It is so nice to have everything muffled out - can't hear the cats fighting or the dogs tags jingling - marvelous silent sleep. :)

I hate having mornings like that - I can definitely sympathize. Nothing can really help fix until you can get home and take a bath and plop on the couch.

Hope tomorrow is better! It is going to be Saturday at least!

I feel like I'm missing something with the peonies too, but them, I am no gardener. I appreciate them but don't enjoy doing the upkeep. We overslept again this morning, too. GRR. That's a LOT lately... Sorry about your headache, I hope it gets better soon!

They are quite easy to take care of and they transplant well. The one that I dug from my grandma's yard last year is flowering now! Oddly (or not?) enough it's the same shade as the ones I already have. I don't really do much of anything to them, maintenance-wise.

My headache vanished by the time I walked through my door. Coincidence? I think not.

Our peonies are going bonkers!

But OUR storm really did batter them to some extent. WOW! Thunder, lightning and HARD wind and rain!

Sorry about the headache, hope it's gone now. :-(

Wish I could squeeze a puppy.

Sorry about moldy cocoa.

Sorry about bing behind. Commenting etc.
