In Honor of Banned Book Week

As someone who believes in everyone's freedom to choose what they want to read, I am celebrating Banned Book week by reading one of the many books that has been challenged over the years. It is not listed on the top 100 list, but it is mentioned as one of the frequently challenged books on Google Book Search. I decided it was about time I read some Hemingway, so The Sun Also Rises became my Banned Book selection for 2006.

I am just about halfway through it and have run across what I can assume is some of the questionable content. I think that if people find certain things offensive in the books they read or that their children read, it provides a perfect learning opportunity.

Do you have to finish the book by Saturday? Hurry, hurry.

How are you liking it?

Ha, ha. Aren't you a card. I have a a spare second to read this weekend, it will be the assigned reading for class, not the recreational reading I would prefer to be doing.

I am liking it so far (and I'm almost done). You were correct in saying it's not my usual style, but I am still able to appreciate it. I can't say that I see what all the fuss is about though; it's just any old book.
