I'm having dinner tonight with Old Phish Friend. It's not a date. I don't think FF is 100% convinced of this fact. He implied Old Phish Friend might have ulterior motives. But no, I can tell when someone is flirting with me, and he's not flirting. This is just old friends getting together after not having seen each other in eleven years.
FF still doesn't like it, but he didn't freak out like he did two weeks ago when I mentioned possibly having drinks with Old Phish Friend on a Saturday night. Needless to say, after much screaming and misery, no drinks were had. I do think this will precipitate yet another discussion on where things stand between us though.
When I was telling another male friend (Tootles) about my dinner plans and how it is not a date, he asked me what underwear I would be wearing (this conversation took place yesterday). I said since I hadn't done laundry in next to forever, whatever pair was left in the drawer. Yup, he said, not a date.
Yeah, that's what I said.

OPF might not be flirting with you, but Tootles sure is! Avoiding drinks might be for the best either way.
I'm not sure there's anything behind Tootles' flirting though. I think that's just his personality.
No drinks, just a nice leisurely dinner with lots of catching up.
If is was a date would you even wear underware? Since you are, then it is not a date - is that the logic?
Back in the day I use to have girlfriends that I could go out with for a drink or fifteen, and even introduce them to strangers they though looked interesting. So go on and have a good time.
So, I don't get it. I have to ask. Why are we not considering this a potential date? I am going to assume that you really don't want it to be a date, but uh, I have to admit I am not totally convinced. But, hey, I have a special place in my heart for Old Phish Friends. :)
